AKHNOOR: Army organised a joint civil-military interaction and co-operation meeting in the border village of Pargwal, recently.
The interaction envisaged to acquaint the civil administration on the civil-military co-operation in border security and also to make them aware of various safety measures during cross border firing.
The function was inaugurated jointly by Commander of Chenab Brigade along with Dr. Krishan Lal, Member of Legislative Assembly Khour and Rajeev Sharma, Member of Legislative Assembly Akhnoor.
It was attended by Davinder Pal, Sub Divisional Magistrate Khour, Sunaina Mehta, SDM Akhnoor, Arun Gupta, SP (Rural) Jammu and R.C Puri, Director Red Cross Society, Jammu alongwith village Sarpanch of Pargwal.
With the aim to address the medical needs of the locals residing in remote and border areas of Pargwal including adjoining villages, a medical camp was also organised by the army with the assistance from State Health Department, Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta, said.
Doctors and specialists from the army as well as State Health Department rendered free medical advice, carried out medical checkup and distributed medicines to approximately 1,181 people of border areas.
In addition, Indian Red Cross Society also contributed by setting up an awareness camp during the above function in which the younger generation and school children of the area were imparted first aid training.
