Citizen’s Forum expresses dismay over stagnated Amphalla-Janipur road project

JAMMU: Expressing dismay over zero progress on Amphalla-Janipur road widening project, Citizen’s Forum on Thursday urged LG Manoj Sinha to enquire actual expenditure required for the project as it has been felt that some leaders of the area are responsible for non-completion of the project, which is need of the hour.
In a press statement issued here, R K Chadha, President Citizen’s Forum said that PIL in High Court demanding construction of a flyover from Shakuntla to High Court Janipur and widening of road, after facing many irrelevant objections from non-accommodating Government of day, Rs 90 crore was approved as expenditure including 1.5 crore for shifting of Power Station. “Interestingly all of a sudden, senior advocates of J&K High Court Bar Association joined the PIL and expenditure of Rs 90 crore was increased to Rs 280 crore for giving compensation to un-authorised occupation by people for road widening on both sides of road,” he added. Chadha further said, “We don’t mind giving compensation. Whatever is decided by court, shopkeepers deserve it. We are asking about Rs 1.5 crore which is shown as already spent on the PDD Power station shifting and request the Government to start the project immediately.”
