Child labour—A serious concern

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed newspaper I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the child labour. Child Labour is the use of children to work in horrible conditions. The problem of child labour poses a challenge before the nation. Children are exposed to the worst form of child labour such as work in hazardous environment, slavery or other forms of forced labour. Child labour is so horrible. Government has been taking various teps to tackle this problem but the magnitude of this problem is so high that it requires concrete efforts from all sections of the society to make a dent in the problem. We can do a lot to stop this and we need to do that. Poverty is the main root cause of this problem and enforcement alone cannot help to solve it. Child labour awareness programmes should be co-ordinated to help these children. Forced child begging is one of the worst forms of child labour and despite being clearly visible nothing is being done to save children.
These children are the future of our country. By snatching away their childhood we not only are destroying their lives but also jeopardizing India’s growth prospects. The country needs proactive leaders and
surplus funds to fight these evils.
