PIL highlighted dilapidated condition of Cattle Pond

JAMMU: In a significant order, a Division Bench of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh at Jammu comprising Chief Justice N. Kotishwar Singh and Justice Puneet Gupta while hearing a Public Interest Litigation(PIL) highlighting the dilapidated condition of cattle pond/ Goushala at Village Seri Khurd (Nagrota), in open court observed that Chief Justice shall visit the cattle pond / Goushala on June 2, 2023 at 4: 00 PM.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Adv Supriya Chouhan and Mohd Zuilkar Nain Chowdhary, Division Bench headed by Chief Justice further directed that Commissioner JMC, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Municipal Veterinary Officer JMC, Advocates of both sides, petitioner Chairperson SAVE, Devinder Kour Madaan alias Rimpy Madaan shall also remain present during the visit.
When this much publicized PIL came-up for hearing, Adv SS Ahmed pointed out that the petitioner and Advocate Supriya Chouhan conducted a surprise visit of the cattle pond on April 8, 2023 and witnessed the dilapidated condition of Goshala. The animals were locked during the broad day light in the four sheds and they were not left open for grazing. Adv Ahmed further submitted that the whole surprise visit was video-graphed and the said video has been placed on record through a proper application.
Advocate Ahmed request the Division Bench to watch the said video in open court in order to have the impression about the condition of cattle in the Goushala.
After considering the submission of Advocate SS Ahmed, the Division Bench in the open court watched the video and after going through the entire video showing the sorry state of affairs of Goshala, the Chief Justice in the open court observed that we would like to visit the cattle pond/ Goshala on June 2, 2023 at 4:00 PM.
