BISHNAH: Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and former Member CWC-AICC along with Congress leaders including Dr. Nand Lal Bhagat, Puran Singh, Chairman and Gambhir Dev Singh, Member PCC visited various border villages falling under Tehsils Bishnah and Arnia to assess the situation due to shelling from across the border.
During the tour, he listened to the woes of the people at villages Nandpur, Joyian, Pindi and Kathar, where villagers are spending sleepless nights because of the war like situation created by the continuous heavy firing. He assured them all possible support for getting their most genuine demands accepted by the government, which included the allotment of plots measuring 5 Marlas at safer places, insurance of human lives, livestock, houses and their crops by the government, special recruitment drive for youths, proper compensation for the loss of crops and property, ex-gratia relief for the persons killed in the Pak firing at par with those being killed by the militants elsewhere in the State i.e. to the tune of Rs. 5 lakh each, besides, the equal amount be also paid to the injured as is being done in the militancy affected cases.
It was also brought into his notice that people are being asked to pay their electricity bills even for the period they were staying in the relief camps leaving behind their houses and property in the recent past. Charak demanded that State Government should immediately waive off the electricity with regard to these border villages.
Charak also visited the relief camps at Rehal, Deoli and Salehar where during the interaction with the people he thanked Ghulam Nabi Azad for taking up the above mentioned issues with the Prime Minister of India, Union Home Minister and Chief Minister, and hoped that he will make all the necessary efforts for considering the most genuine demands of the people.
Charak also urged upon the State Government to ensure the proper care of people affected by the border firing.
