Change over!

It is testing time for BJP in Jammu and Kashmir all that electoral gains it garnered during 2014 Assembly elections now looks have been in wane. A party which was catapulted to 25 seats in Jammu from the eleven it got after the 2009 Amarnath land agitation today is in a position of uncertainty. Being a partner in government the way party leaders are staging protest against government appears as if they are still in opposition. Being critical to policies of partner is quite natural but coming out open against them is something which is not expected from a party who has woven an uncommon alliance for survival in Jammu and Kashmir.  It took some time for Mehbooba Mufti to accept the BJP partnership because of their ideological differences. She has been on record to say, the party does not want to commit the errors done by her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.  Because of this difference government formation remained stalled for a quite long time.  Even at that time speculations were rife that the saffron party would get separated from the alliance and would form an independent government from Jammu. Today all that speculation looks as if a piece of imagination with hardly any truth. Much has been said on the governance and today in reality it is testing time for BJP to show its regional affiliation as Jammu has remained neglected at the hands of political parties from ages. DNA of politics is very different it changes as per the situation. The outcome of Anantnag by-election will surely cast shadow on the BJP-PDP ties. In simple terms Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has to win the by-election to prove her legitimacy of carrying forward Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s political legacy and acceptance of Kashmiri people. This the maverick lady Chief Minister has shown by reaching out to Kashmiri Pandits by paying her obeisance at Kheer Bhawani. There would definitely be no repeat of 2014 mandate for BJP in Jammu region. So it should revamp its policies and take some cue from CM’s policies by widening their political canvass and not confining to Jammu and its problems.
