Chander Parkash meets Union Ministers of MS&ME, Textiles

NEW DELHI: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga met Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Kalraj Mishra and Union Minister of State Textiles, Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday to discuss various issues pertaining to Industries and Commerce in J and K.

The discussions with the Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises focused on mandatory purchase of various products from MSME units located in J and K by the Central PSUs and various other Central Departments, increasing the limits of investment in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, increasing allocation of Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme being implemented by KVIB and DIC’s in the state and overall upgradation of industrial estates and funding of tool room, etc.

In another meeting with Union Minister of State Textiles, the focus remained upon funding of various programmes in Jammu and Kashmir, raising handloom and handicraft related infrastructure, skill upgradation of the artisans and weavers in the state.

The minister pleaded for increasing the number of training centres in J and K, increasing the funding of Modern looms, opening up of Weaver Service Centre in Jammu, setting up of permanent office of National Handloom Development Corporation in J and K and early sanctioning of additional Handloom clusters.

The minister expressed satisfaction over the meetings with the Union Ministers and assurances given by them to help the MSME sector, Handloom and Handicraft sector, weavers/artisans community of J and K State in enhancing their production, product quality along with skill levels.
