JAMMU: Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Saturday felicitated Farooq Khan on being appointed as Administrator of Lakshdeep Islands at a function organised here at Chamber House.
On the occasion, Speaker J and K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was also present.
The chamber felt that as a part of social corporate responsibility, efforts should always be made to recognise the achievements of the son of the soil whenever they bring laurels to the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, CCI President, Rakesh Gupta highlighted the glorious service record of Farooq Khan as a top cop of Jammu and Kashmir Police and thanked him on behalf of Chamber of Commerce and Industry for his audacity and intellect in dealing with the militancy as the Head of the Special Operation Group in the early nineties. He said that it was due to the joint efforts of Farooq Khan and his team as SOG that militancy was almost wiped out from the State.
Farooq Khan, in his address, said that he will act as Ambassador of J and K State and bridge the gaps between the north and south. He also said that he shall promote cultural and tourism exchange.
Many eminent people from the civil society and also retired senior police officials attended the programme. Prominent among them were Ashok Bhan, Prem Gupta IG (Retd), K.B Jandial (Retd) IAS, Quoom Manhas IPS (Retd) I.G, Ashok Gupta IPS (Retd) IG, Ravinder Kotwal IG (Retd) IPS, Ramesh Koul DIG (Retd) IPS, Mubassar Latiffi SSP Crime Branch, Rajinder Gupta SSP Railways and Maroof Manhas Dy. Director Vigilance and Abdul Rouf Lone SP Retd.
The office bearers of the CCI namely Sham Lal Langar Senior Vice President, Deepak Aggarwal Vice President, Rahul Mahajan Secretary and Ashu Gupta Treasurer in addition to large number of prominent members of CCI were also present.
