Challan produced against Public Prosecutor in graft case

SRINAGAR: The Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VOK) presented a challan against the then Public Prosecutor, Session Court, Budgam Sheikh Mohammad Nayeem in the Court of Special Judge Anti-corruption, Kashmir, Srinagar on Wednesday in a graft case.
The case was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organisation Kashmir wide FIR No. 04/2014 on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Reyaz Ahmad Mir resident of Wanihama Beerwa Budgam with the allegations that a case bearing FIR No. 124/2013 of Police Station Beerwah is under trial before the Court of District & Sessions Judge Budgam which pertains to the murder of his father namely Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Wanihama Beerwah, the charge sheet of which was produced before the court against 12 accused persons.
The said case was pleaded by Public Prosecutor Sheikh Mohammad Nayeem on behalf of the State and demanded Rs 1.00 lakh as bribe for pleading the case otherwise he will help and plead in favour of accused persons. After repeated persuasion the accused Public Prosecutor agreed to receive Rs. 10,000 as first installment and the complainant desired legal action in to the matter against him.
After registration of case wide FIR No. 04/2014 Police Station VOK, a trap was laid and the said Public Prosecutor was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 10,000- from the complainant as a first instalment.
The Investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused for launching prosecution, the Challan of the case was produced before the Court of Special Judge Anti-corruption, Kashmir, Srinagar.
