‘Chaar Sahibzaade’ tax free in Punjab

Chandigarh, Nov 16 (PTI) Government of the north-Indian state Punjab on Sunday announced exemption of entertainment tax on ‘Chaar Sahibzaade’, which is an animation movie based on the life of four sons of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has sanctioned tax free status for Punjabi movie directed by Harry Baweja, said an official release.

Badal, who holds the portfolio of Excise and Taxation, said he has allowed tax free status to this religious movie to educate the present generation about the unparallelled and supreme sacrifice of the sons of 10th Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh- Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh.

He said the SAD-BJP always encouraged Punjabi cinema that gave social and religious message for the betterment of the society and would continue to encourage filmmakers to make movies on such subjects.

Badal added he has directed Excise and Taxation Commissioner to issue a notification in this regard with immediate effect.
