JAMMU: Department of Telecommunication (DoT) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) won their respective matches to move into the next round of the pre-quarterfinals in Cricket in the ongoing Annual Sports Meet of Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) got underway at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here on Monday.
In the opening match of the day, DoT outplayed Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine (IIIM) by a margin of 33 runs. Batting first, after winning the toss, DoT set a target of 158 runs for four wickets in allotted 15 overs. In reply, IIIM was bowled out for 124 runs.
The second match of the day was won by IB, who beat National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) by five wickets in a close contest. Batting first, NSSO made 79 runs which in reply, IB chased in 14.5 overs losing five wickets. Earlier, the event was declared open by DAG Audit of DoT, V.K Bakshi, who was Chief Guest in the inaugural match. Prominent persons among others present were Ravi Kumar DDE (HoO) and Anjali Sharma, Director Radio Kashmir Jammu as also Sham lal, B.S Bhan and Ajay Prakash Gupta.
NEXT MATCH: Central Water Commission (CWC) shall take on Survey of India (SoI) at 9:00 AM and Accountant General to meet Geological Survey of India (GoI) from 9:00 AM tomorrow.
