SRINAGAR: On the directions of Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), Umang Narula, CEO along with Jitendra Kumar Singh, Additional CEO SASB on Tuesday visited Sheshnag, Chandanwari and Nunwan Yatra Camps and took stock of the ongoing week long Sanitation Drive being carried out by the Shrine Board on the directions of the Governor.
CEO informed the Governor that the cleaning and sanitation operations in the Yatra Camps, visited by him today, were being carried out vigorously under the personal supervision of the Camp Directors, Additional Camp Directors and Officers of the Pahalgam Development Authority, Municipal Committee Pahalgam and representatives of the various State Government Departments deployed in the Yatra Camps. All bio-degradable wastes were being disposed off in composting pits and non- biodegradable wastes, including plastic wastes are being collected from the tracks and along the hill slopes and brought down for proper disposal. CEO, SASB visited the site of the shredding machine at Nunwan where plastic bottles collected from the track are being crushed.
Appreciating the good work already done under the ongoing Sanitation Drive, Governor directed CEO to keep a close watch to ensure cleanliness and sanitation in all camps and along the track and ensure against any waste/ plastic materials being thrown into the Nallahs. Governor further directed CEO to ensure that all bio-degradable and non-biodegradable wastes are disposed off in accordance with the action plan already approved by him.
