Centre should return power projects: MDF

JAMMU: Muslim Development Forum (MDF), Jammu and Kashmir and Civil Society members of Jammu today jointly demanded from the Centre the return of all power projects run by NHPC in the State and fulfilling of promise made by PDP and its alliance partner BJP in the Agenda of Alliance.
The people of J and K feel dejected over the silence being maintained by the Modi Government over the recommendations made by the Raga Rajan Committee and working group formed by the than Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for return of certain power projects to J and K State free of cost, they mentioned.
They further said that till the power projects are returned free power quota of 12 per cent may be raised to 30 per cent keeping in mind the fast approaching hottest summer season this year as predicted by the Meteorology Department. The MDF demanded from the State Government to strengthen the JKSPDC to enable them to handle the power projects of the J and K State independently.
