CCI expresses concern over rising terror threats in Jammu Region

Stresses for enhancing security measures for successful upcoming pilgrimages

JAMMU: A meeting convened at the Chamber House under the leadership of Arun Gupta, President, to address the escalating terror attacks in the Jammu region. Presidents/General Secretaries from various Market Associations and senior members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) gathered to discuss the pressing issues.
The meeting commenced with a two-minute silence to honour the lives lost in recent terrorist incidents. Prayers were offered for the swift recovery of the injured and heartfelt sympathies extended to the bereaved families.
Expressing deep concern, Arun Gupta highlighted the surge in terror attacks, attributing them to a larger conspiracy by Pakistan.
He underscored Pakistan’s discomfort with the return of normalcy in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, evidenced by the peaceful participation in the recent Parliamentary elections.
Acknowledging the efforts of security forces, Arun Gupta stressed the need for enhanced security measures, especially with the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Budha Amarnath Yatra, and Machail Mata Yatra.
He called upon the public and business community to remain vigilant against anti-national elements and avoid falling prey to their designs.
Arun Gupta also urged the business community, including the Hotel Industry, to offer reasonable discounts to pilgrims and tourists, fostering a welcoming atmosphere during their shopping and hotel stays.
Furthermore, he appealed to the Lieutenant Governor’s Administration to streamline processes such as increasing registration counters to facilitate pilgrims arriving from various states without inconvenience.
During the interactive session, Presidents of various Bazaar Associations raised concerns regarding issues like the Darbar Move, traffic management, and the placement of Reharis (portable shops) in different market areas.
