JAMMU: President Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Rakesh Gupta met Commissioner Commercial Taxes (CCT), P.I Khateeb and discussed various important issues.
At the outset, the migration from VAT to GST was discussed and the preparedness of the traders/industrialists was questioned wherein Gupta requested that regular free training programmes be started at the Excise and Taxation Complex Rail Head Jammu. He apprised the Commissioner that Chamber is making aware all the traders/industrialists to avail the benefit of recently announced Amnesty Scheme as soon as possible.
Chamber President strongly demanded action against the people who are running business and selling taxable goods without any TIN or TOT registration in the slum areas throughout Jammu city as well as persons selling on road sides and footpaths as it was affecting sales of honest taxpaying traders.
Gupta demanded that Commercial Tax Department should seize such goods and also take action against the people who are selling without any shop premises at the Railway Station and Bus Stand in Jammu. The Commissioner Commercial Taxes assured strict action against any such people who were working against the taxation laws and causing losses to the state exchequer.
