JAMMU: Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu on Saturday registered a formal case for cheating and forgery case involving fake appointment orders in the High Court of J&K.
Sharing the details, SSP SCW Jammu Sanjay Parihar informed that the case has been registered against one Mohd. Tahir, son of Mohd Hussain, resident of Ward No. 07, Banola, District Poonch, on the basis of written complaints lodged by two different complainants, alleging fraud committed with them by the accused by providing fake appointment orders in lieu of monetary considerations.
“The accused came into contact with the first complainant during a train journey from Jammu to Roorkee and subsequently developed friendly relations with him. Taking advantage of this acquaintance, the accused allured the complainant by assuring him of a Government job in the J&K High Court, Jammu. On the basis of this false assurance, the complainant paid Rs. 2,00,000, part through bank transfer and part in cash. In return, the accused handed over an alleged appointment order purportedly issued by the J&K High Court,” Sanjay Parihar said.
“When the complainant approached the High Court authorities for joining, it was revealed that the appointment order was fake and forged,” Parihar added.
“Further, the accused, who was known to the second complainant for a long time, initially took Rs. 2,00,000 on the pretext of medical treatment of his wife. Subsequently, the accused assured him that he could arrange a job for his son in the J&K High Court and obtained his documents, with the intention to defraud him. Verification later revealed that the appointment order was forged,” Parihar said.
In this manner, the accused allegedly cheated both the complainants of a total amount of Rs. 4,00,000, causing wrongful loss to them and wrongful gain to himself.
On receipt of the complaints, a preliminary verification was conducted by Inspector Deepak Bharti, which substantiated the allegations. Accordingly, a formal case has been registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu under relevant sections Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Parihar said adding that investigation into the matter has been entrusted to Dy SP Javaid Iqbal Tabassum and further proceedings are underway.
