CATCH BIG FISH

The frequent recovery of drug consignments and arrests of drug peddlers is the indication that Jammu and Kashmir will soon become akin to what the neighboring state Punjab was a few years earlier. Cops in J&K managed to apprehend small drug peddlers but the big fish always go scot free with those working at their signals never spilling the beans in this matter. In this context, police has arrested two people, including a woman, and recovered 4 Kg cannabis and Rs 4,49,000 in cash from them. The arrested duo was rounded up by a police team which was on a routine checking duty at Rajeev Nagar-Narwal area. Recovering such a huge quantity from a drug peddler duo in Jammu is a real big issue as the cops always remain on tenterhooks to deter any such smuggling bid by the members of big drug cartels. No doubt, the statement issued by police in J&K after this big catch is that it is working to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region but the situation on ground is a bit grim and shabby. It is advisable that the government should make an SIT in the matter and thorough questioning should be carried out to ascertain that from where this huge quantity of drug has come and who is running this racket. It is hard to find a locality in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory where there are no drug peddlers as the situation has turned so grim. Like Punjab, in J&K also drug addicts have become part and parcel of society and their peculiar habits like stealing, etc have slowly and gradually been accepted by all the members of society in J&K. Both Jammu and Kashmir provinces have the same level of criticality as far as drugs are concerned because the police have to exert the same pain for catching the culprits both in Jammu and in Kashmir. Hopefully things will turn better and sooner than later drugs will vanish from society as people these days have become aware and have started saying no to drugs and cops are also doing their best to curb this menace as is evident from present case.
