JAMMU: Casual labourers of Irrigation and Flood Control Department on Saturday held a protest against the delaying policy of payment of regular wages to them. A large number of casual labourers led by Mohammad Gafoor Dar State President J and K National Trade Union Front gathered near Irrigation Complex, Canal Road and raised anti-government slogans urging the State Government to frame the wages head for regular payment of wages to them.
They said their families have to suffer and even some of them are at the point of starvation due to wrong policies of the government. While addressing the protesting casual labourers, Dar urged upon the concerned authorities to immediately release pending wages of casual labourers in Tube Well Irrigation Division and other Divisions of the Department without any further delay.
Dar also urged the Chief Engineer Irrigation Flood Control Jammu to submit the biometric Aadhaar card based Information to the government as early as possible to ensure further regularisation of casual labourers. Rajinder Kumar, Pushpinder Singh, Surjeet Manyal, Kamal Kishore and Raj Singh were also present.
