Cardio vascular diseases detection camp held

JAMMU: To provide best medicare services to the people, Dr. Sushil K. Sharma, Head, Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College, Jammu, conducted Cardiac diseases evaluation camp here at RS Pura on Sunday.
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr. Sushil K. Sharma at 192 battalion of BSF, RS Pura on Sunday in which more than 150 jawans and their families attended the camp.
Dr Sharma assisted by a team of doctors comprising Dr. Nasir, Dr. Salma Kouser, Dr. Mohil Kalsotra besides paramedics Kashmir Singh, Lakshmi Manhas and volunteers including Gourav, Sahil, Mohit, Suresh and Rajesh.
A number of security personnel availed the benefits of this camp which included clinical examination and investigation like ECG and blood sugar detection. The stress was laid on detecting cardiovascular diseases in patients belonging to security forces and their families.
Dr. Sushil highlighted various risk factors which if not attended well in time can progress to fatal problems like heart attacks, pump failure and sudden cardiac deaths. They included factors like smoking and excessive alcohol intake, hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, obesity and stressful situations. He also highlighted the need of regular check up in people of security forces so that all the risk factors can be controlled for prevention of heart diseases.
The Commandant of Battalion S.P.S Sandhu and Dr. Sanjeev expressed gratitude to Dr. Sushil and his team for conducting such camps for security personnel and their families.
