KATHUA: A team of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) on Thursday charged a fine of Rs 10,000 from the traders caught using domestic LPG for commercial purposes.
The team led by Assistant Director, T.P Singh along with Tehsil Supply Officer Kathua Rajveen Singh, imposed the fine during the inspection of shops in Barnoti area.
Beside this, six kerosene oil dealers of Barnoti and Lakhanpur area were also checked by the team and charged a penalty of Rs. 4000 for not displaying rate-lists at their depot premises.
All the shop-keepers, hoteliers and sweetshop owners were warned of strict action for using domestic LPG cylinder for commercial purpose. The team also directed kerosene oil and ration dealers to display the rate-lists prominently at their respective depots else the violators shall be dealt under the law.
Meanwhile, local administration Ghagwal on Thursday imposed Rs 2,300 fine on erring shopkeepers during extensive market checking.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Ghagwal, S. Charan Jeet Singh along with enforcement committee comprising officials of CAPD, Health, Municipal Committee and Legal Metrology Department conducted the checking in view of Navratras.
Traders were warned against sale of rotten and stale sweets. They were also asked to maintain cleanliness.
