JAMMU: Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department on Thursday organised a mega awareness camp regarding implementation of NFSA, launch of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) and awareness on consumer rights.
The camp was organised at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium of Jammu University which witnessed large participation of representatives of trade organizations, oil companies, officers of CAPD, Legal Metrology, fair price shop owners from across the Jammu province and prominent citizens.
The camp was organised with the objective to remove the misconceptions among the general public regarding NFSA and educate them about MMSFES and their rights as consumers.
The awareness camp showcased an informative street play by the Nav Durga Rang Manch focusing on consumer awareness and rights particularly on NFSA, MMSFES and other commodities with a message ‘be alert before, while and after buying’.
A documentary film on achievements of the present government titled Nai Subah was also screened on the occasion. Director CAPD Jammu G.S Chib, Director CAPD Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmed and Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Manoj Prabhakar highlighted the achievements of the department.
Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Ch. Zulfkar Ali along with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, Secretary CAPD, Shafiq Ahmed Raina, Director CAPD Jammu and Director CAPD Kashmir released four different publications including 10 months milestones of CAPD, Legal Metrology in the service of society, compendium for users and a detailed directory of the department. Various officers and officials were felicitated with excellence certificates for honesty and dedicated contribution to the department. The awardees include ADC Jammu Rifat Kohli, Deputy Director Supply Jugal Kishore Anand, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Manoj Prabhakar, Tanveer Ahmed and other Assistant Directors, Assistant Controllers, Tehsildars, inspectors and others.
