AKHNOOR: Senior Vice President JKPCC and former Minister Congress Sham Lal Sharma on Friday castigated BJP leadership for not doing enough to cater to the needs of stranded Amaranth Yatries besides its shocking numbness on deteriorating situation in the Valley over the killing of a dreaded militant Burhan Wani.
Addressing a monthly Block Congress Committee meeting of Chowki Choura Zone, the senior Congress leader expressed surprise over the hue and cry raised on the killing of Burhan Wani who was a militant and carrying Rs 10 lakh on his head. He said that there was no requirement for Bandhs or strikes over his killing because he being a terrorist got the treatment he deserved.
Taking dig on BJP Ministers and legislators for being mute spectators and have no courage to speak about the sufferings of Amarnath Yatris, he said that these so-called saviors of Hindus have turned sordid over the issue.
Alleging that none of the BJP leaders visited PM Package Kashmiri Pandit employees who have returned to Jammu for security reasons, he said that such an attitude depicts the quantum of seriousness of these leaders towards this hapless employees’ community currently facing intimidation threats from miscreants in Valley.
He also alleged that during BJP-PDP Government the militancy in the Valley has increased more than 47 per cent in the last one and half years and of late the intensity of militants’ activity has increased manifold. “Steps initiated by the State Government to demilitarise Valley overtly have subsequently given a boost to terrorists for stepping up anti-national activities,” he maintained.
Decrying amnesty to Kashmiri Stone pelters by BJP-PDP dispensation, he said this might be the cause behind prevailing unrest in the Valley witnessing horde stone-pelters attacking security forces personnel. He said BJP-PDP Government’s lethargy in tackling consequences aftermath Burhan’s killing has allowed the situation to escalate and go beyond control.
