Burglars’ gang busted; 4 arrested, stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh, 30 phones recovered

JAMMU: Police on Wednesday busted a burglars’ gang by arresting four notorious burglars and recovered stolen gold ornaments, weighing approximately 80 Tollas and worth more than Rs 50 lakh.
While briefing media, SP City South Mamta Sharma said that on February 24, 2022 Police Station Bahu Fort (Trikuta Nagar) received a complaint regarding theft of some gold ornaments from house of complainant namely Neelam, daughter of Shukru Saini, resident of Quarter No. 60-D, Railway West Colony. The officer further told that on receiving information, FIR No. 058/2022 under section 454/380 of IPC was registered and investigation started, during which with help of technical evidences and using human resources, police rounded up 4 suspects namely Mehboob Akhter and Ayoub Ahmed, both sons of Shamas Din, residents of Kothi Chandyar, Bani at present Telli Basti, Bari Brahmana; Sahil Singh alias Billo alias Shotu, son of Padam Singh alias Balram, resident of Dhad Simni Tehsil Basohli at present Telli Basti, Bari Brahmana and Mohd Irshad alias Shadhu, son of Mohd Saleem, resident of Chowadi at present Telli Basti, Bari Brahmana. During sustained questioning, the accused confessed their involvement in crime and on their disclosure stolen gold ornaments were recovered. During further course of investigation, they also confessed that they have also committed thefts against which FIR No. 203/2022 under sections 454/380 of IPC, FIR No. 192/2022 under sections 454/380 of IPC, FIR No. 132/2022 under sections 454/380 of IPC and FIR No. 63/2022 under sections 454/380 of IPC were already registered at Police Station Bahu Fort, she added.
Moreover, they also confessed that they have committed thefts at Gadigarh under jurisdiction of Satwari Police Station, at Sidhra under jurisdiction Nagrota Police Station; Gujjar Colony under jurisdiction of Channi Himmat Police Station and in jurisdiction of Police Station Katra. Further different teams were constituted under supervision of SDPO City East Jammu Zaheer Abbas Jafri and headed by SHO Police Station Bahu Fort Insp Nayat Ali and assisted by PSI Balbir Singh, PSI Adarsh Kant, PSI Sunil Singh, ASI Mohd Sadiq, Sgct Sudesh Raj and Ct Kamal Mustafa. The teams raided at different locations and recovered 800 gm stolen gold ornaments. The stolen gold ornaments recovered by Police Station Bahu fort include 6 Bangles; 3 Tikka/Forehead Jewellery; 6 Necklace; 5 Nose ring/Nath; 8 Mangal Sutra Set; 6 set Topes; 20 Ring; 26 set Ring; 4 Chains and 8 set Jhumkas etc. As investigation is going on, more arrest/recoveries are expected, the SP said, adding that 30 misplaced mobile phones were also traced by Jammu Police. The whole operation is done under the guidance of SP City South Jammu Mamta Sharma and overall close supervision of Chandan Kohli, SSP Jammu.
