Budget session of J-K legislature prorogued

Srinagar: The budget session of Jammu and Kashmir legislature has been prorogued by Governor N N Vohra.

“Governor N N Vohra, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Section 53 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, has issued orders to prorogue both Houses of the State Legislature,” an official spokesman said here.

The orders to prorogue the Legislature were issued by the Governor yesterday, the spokesman said.

Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on June 30 after transacting business for 32 days during the Budget Session.

The Legislative Council was also adjourned sine die on July 2.

The budget session began with the joint address of the Governor to both the houses on May 25.
