BSF wins opening tie of Pt Prem Nath Dogra soccer

JAMMU: Border Security Force (BSF) won the opening match of First Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Football Gold Cup Tournament, which began here on Thursday.
The opening match was played between Territorial Army and BSF, which was won by the latter by 1-0. The lone goal for BSF was scored by John.
During the game, two Yellow Cards were shown to BSF while three to Territorial Army for foul play. Today’s match was officiated by Rocky, Dharampal, Rajinder Singh and Stanzin.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh at Mini Stadium Parade, here in which 26 teams are participating. Speaking on the occasion, Dy CM said the sports are imperative for overall development of the human persona, and it also inculcates the spirit of camaraderie in people.
Legislators Sat Sharma, Rakesh Gupta, Ashok Khajuria, JMC Commissioner Dr. Manmohan Singh and Joint Secretary, J and K Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma were also present on the occasion. The Deputy Chief Minister said JK’s youth have enough potential to match international players, and it was recently exhibited by the state’s young kids, who put the name of the State as well as the country on the world map. . Recalling the historic contribution of Late Pandit Prem Nath Dogra in the socio-political sphere of the State, the Deputy Chief Minister said the role played by the great leader in the development of democratic institutions and strengthening democracy in the State is commendable.
The tournament will conclude on December 11.
Prominent social and political personalities present on the occasion included Mohan Singh Chouhan, Ashwani Charangoo, Arun Chibber, N.D Rajwal, Rajeev Bhardwaj, Munish Sharma, Praduman Singh, Naresh Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Ayodhya Gupta, Kuldeep Magotra, Surinder Pargal, Parshotam Gupta, Murari Lal, Dr. Suresh Ajay Magotra, Varinder Raina, Sanjita Dogra, Sunil Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Dr. Pardeep Mohtra, Puneet Mahajan, Anuradha Sharma, Sushma Gupta, Vidya Devi, Kanta Devi and Veenu Gupta.
