Broadcasting Gurbani relates to Guru Maryada, Punjab Govt should avoid direct interference in religious affairs of Sikhs: Chugh

STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that the Chief Minister is directly interfering in religious matters regarding the broadcast of Gurbani, and there should not be any politicization of Gurbani broadcast.
The management of Sri Harimandar Sahib is run by the SGPC, a body elected by the Sikhs. Governments should avoid interfering in this, he added.
Chugh said that the SGPC has been looking after the arrangements for the broadcast of Gurbani from Sri Harimandar Sahib since the year 2000. The Bhagwant Man government along with Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Mini Parliament of Sikhs, before introducing a new proposal in the Legislative Assembly for its broadcast should consult the Jathedars of Sahibaan so that the deficiency in the transmission of Gurbani can be discussed.
Chugh said that the AAP government must remember that even a slight lapse in Sikh norms in broadcasting Gurubani from Sri Darbar Sahib can hurt the sentiments of the Sangat.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is trying to confuse the Sikhs by interfering in their religious affairs by implementing the new Act.
Chugh urged AAP’s Bhagwant Mann government to focus on the progress of Punjab and work to improve the lives of the people and not create any new challenge for the peace across the state by getting entangled in religious matters.
