Bring Jammu shrines, temples on tourism map: Kundal

JAMMU: J and K Dharamarth Trust in association with Jammu Heritage Society felicitated the participants of Ram Navmi Shobha Yatra taken out in April 2016, at a function organised here on Sunday.
On the occasion, President J and K Dharmarth Trust Council, B.R Kundal was the Chief Guest. The function was attended by the presidents of various, trade, industry, commerce, hotel, tourism bodies, Bazaar associations, through which the Shobha Yatra passed and the presidents of various communities / Sabhas, Principles of Schools and other prominent citizens of Jammu. While addressing the gathering, Kundal thanked all the participants and appreciated their untiring efforts put in to make the Shobha Yatra a grand success and hoped for similar participation for the similar Shobha Yatra of 2017. He also mentioned measures undertaken to create a re -connect between the public and temples besides sought cooperation and suggestions for making the temples a vibrant place for religious and spiritual activities. The uniqueness of the temples constructed by the Dogra rulers was especially brought out and made a mention of the only temples in north India having Murtis of Mata Rukmani ji, Balram ji and existence of very popular Temple of Mata Chintpurni in Jammu itself, he stated.
For bringing shrines and temples of Jammu on religious tourism map sought consideration of the State Government and explained measures adopted by the DAT to promote the same by putting signage’s and brief history of each and every Temple of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
Prominent among those who participated include MLC Romesh Arora, Secretary Dharmarth Trust Shashi Khajuria, Thakur Narayan Singh, Ved Parkesh Sharma, Piran Ditta, Baldev Khullar, Rakesh Gupta, Yash Pal Gupta, Vinod Malhotra and R Kapoor.
