Border tension escalates; women, children shifted to safer places

JAMMU: Following fresh flare up of tension along the International border in Samba and Kathua districts on late Wednesday evening , the state police authorities deployed bullet proof vehicles to shift women and children to safer places.
Tension in the forward areas escalated after one of the BSF jawan was martyred in a sniper attack in Samba sector. In response Indian border guards retaliated strongly and effectively.
As evening progressed Pak rangers started targeting some of the forward areas in Hiranagar sector of Kathua forcing the local police to take precautionary measures and shift women and children to safer places. Police authorities pressed bullet proof bunkers to shift them to safer places.
Panic stricken residents packed woolen and other essentials in small bags before leaving their homes in haste.
