STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker in Kalakote, Rajouri has alleged harassment and violation of fundamental rights by family of former National Conference (NC) MLA Late Rashpal Singh.
While addressing a press conference, BJP worker Dilbagh Singh Thakur has alleged that for last two years, brothers of late MLA Rashpal Singh, namely Randhir Singh and Rameshwar Singh are harassing him because they don’t tolerate anyone to stand against wrong-doings done by their family. Interestingly, Randhir Singh has recently joined BJP. “There is resentment among BJP workers, who allege that family of former NC leader continues to threaten local people. The family has exploited and humiliated opponent party workers for last 2-3 decades for personal political interests. Failure and negligence of district police is quite visible,” he added.
“Till Rashpaul Singh was alive, he too was involved in threatening anyone who opposed him. Now his two brothers continue to follow the legacy. People in Kalakote are fed up with the family of former NC MLA,” claimed Dilbagh Singh.
He further alleged that for last two years the NC leaders have denied extension of electricity cables to his home. They are using threats to ensure my family is denied basic amenities of life. “Police is also not taking any step to prevent harassment and bullying tactics of NC leaders. Local people had approached the police officers to lodge FIR against NC leaders, but matter is deliberately ignored always,” alleged Thakur.
“At several times people have been beaten with iron-rods and sticks by miscreants supported by National Conference leaders in Kalakote but administration especially police have turned a blind eye towards the happening,” Thakur alleged, adding, “Political violence against anyone who stood against NC leaders and their workers has become a norm in Kalakote. We seek action and investigation against family of former MLA. People in area are fed-up with attitude of administration.”
Others present in the press conference included Anil Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, Balvinder Singh and Kashish Thakur.
