BJP should lead

Dear Editor,
The Finance Ministry’s statement that the IT Department will take no action against any amount of old notes deposited by political parties in their accounts makes one question the real motive behind the disastrous note ban that will go down in the history of India as a chapter darker than the Emergency. Was the anti-people move conspired to take care of the financial health of the parties, particularly the ruling BJP? If the BJP really means to rid the nation of corruption and wants to promote a cashless economy, it should declare that it will neither accept a penny in cash as donation nor make any payment from its accounts in cash, while voluntarily offering to come under the ambit of the RTI. Also, it should set an example by resorting to digital campaigning during elections since holding mega rallies go against the very spirit of its own Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
