JAMMU: Claiming that BJP has not deviated from its agenda and core issues, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said both the coalition partners have honoured the mandate of the people of the State and came together for governance. “The BJP has not deviated from its agenda and core issues. Both BJP and PDP have honoured the mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and came together for governance,” he said, while addressing the inaugural session of the Jammu District Working Committee of BJP.
Singh said the people of Jammu and Kashmir had voted overwhelmingly in favour of BJP and PDP respectively for “good governance and corruption free administration” as they were “fed up” with the previous National Conference and Congress Government.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government is working to develop Jammu as a tourist hub to promote businesses here.
Making an appeal to the people not to get misled by the “false propaganda against his party”, he said a comparison between the decades’ rule of Congress and that of Atal Behari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi government itself speaks as to who has been “pro-people and pro-development”.
Speaker and Gandhi Nagar MLA, Kavinder Gupta spoke on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes, while Jammu East MLA and Chief Whip Rajesh Gupta spoke on Antodaya and Ekatm Manavaad. MLC Ashok Khajuria spoke on various welfare schemes of booth, Central and State Governments and also the present situation in the state. Similarly, State Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi spoke on party’s policies and State Vice-President Rajni Sethi spoke on working of different departments established by the party. District President Baldev Singh Billawaria, delivered the welcome address and also briefed about programmes undertaken during last three months. Proceedings were conducted by District General Secretaries Vinay Gupta and Sunil Sharma and Pushotam Sharma recited Varg Geet. The meeting also adopted a resolution on development of Jammu District and also the achievements Central and State Government. Similar, Working Committee Meeting of Udhampur District was held at Ramnagar and addressed by State General Secretary Pawan Khajuria, MLA R.S Pathania, Senior leader Som Raj Khajuria, District President Rakesh Gupta, local leaders Master Gopal Dass, Advocate Mohan Lal and Puran Chand. Proceedings of this meeting were conducted by Ramneek Sharma.
