AIIMS row: Coordination Committee to start chain hunger strike from June 12

JAMMU: Considering the fact that PDP-BJP Coalition Government is doing nothing to end the discrimination against people of Jammu, the AIIMS Coordination Committee (CC) on Tuesday decided to sit on chain hunger strike from 12th June 2015.
Chairman AIIMS CC Abhinav Sharma, in a statement issued here said that the patience of people is already running out fast and it would be an act of utter irresponsibility if the authorities continue to treat the people of Jammu province shabbily.

“The AIIMS Coordination Committee had hoped that the very largely participated candle-light protest march in Jammu on 5th June 2015 will move the adamant PDP-BJP Coalition Government and a decision on setting up AIIMS in Jammu will come to fore but nothing in this regard came to light”, he rued.
He avowed that State coalition is up in arms against the aspirations of people of Jammu especially in the case of setting up AIIMS in Jammu and it seems that government is in no mood to settle the issue amicably.
He said that AIIMS Coordination Committee has already garnered the support of several non-political organisations for ensuring the establishment of AIIMS and completion of artificial lake project in Jammu.
Meanwhile, to intensify the agitation, the AIIMS Coordination Committee delegation visited Samba and Kathua Districts of Jammu province. The delegation was led by the President of the AIIMS Coordination Committee and the President of Jammu Bar Association Abhinav Sharma, who was accompanied by B.S Salathia Senior Advocate and former President of Jammu Bar Association, Daljeet Singh, President Young Lawyers Association, Pradeep Majotra, Vice President, Young Lawyers Association and Ravinder Sharma Advocate.
The delegation convened meetings with the representatives of the civil society organisations, including the District Bar Associations and the representatives of the traders in Samba and Kathua Districts. The issue of denial of establishment of AIIMS in Jammu was discussed in detail along with the attitude of the PDP-BJP ruling alliance towards the issues pertaining to Jammu province.
In Samba, representatives of Samba Bar Association, Samba Traders Associations, representatives of transporters, Brahman Sabha and Rajput Sabha attended the meeting. Prominent among those present during the meeting in Samba included Sukhbeer Singh Sambyal, President Samba Bar Association, Prakash Sharma former MLA, Manjit Singh, former Minister, Ravi Khajuria, President Brahman Sabha Samba, Captain Inder Singh Rajput Sabha Samba and Tejinder Singh Sambyal, President Samba Traders Association.
In Kathua, Balbir Singh, President Kathua Bar Association, Baldev Raj Gupta , President Kathua Vyopaar Mandal, President of the Rajput Sabha Kathua and representatives of the transporter organisations attended the meeting.
Extending wholehearted support to agitation against discrimination with Jammu, participants condemned the attitude of the State Government for endorsing prejudice against Jammu. Speakers expressed shock that after such a massive mandate for BJP in the recent Assembly elections, the attitude of discrimination and bias against Jammu province continued as ever.
