BJP local unit trapped in NIT row

Mahadeep Singh Jamwal

If we track down the history of cricket, we find that whenever a match between India and Pakistan is played, there is always law and order problem in J and K especially in Kashmir irrespective of the fact who is the winner. It is the same cricket match which has originated the present NIT row in Kashmir. One thing which is very much clear on the subject is that, the Kashmiri ideology (may not be of all) does not have clear concept of the sports ideology that in sports winning or losing does not matter much but the sports spirit is that how the teams performed.
What happened in NIT Srinagar, if analyzed with soft specks, we find that in J and K the alliance partners by acting in a much uncalled manner and by airing the statements in a different direction have given an indication of drifting away of both alliance partners. The BJP unit in Jammu headed by Dy.CM has tried to concentrate on the matter in such a way as to give a signal of their most concern of non-local students (concern of nationalists) but that too in an absurd manner. The brutal use of force on non-local students was remarked in a befooling manner, as mild action by police by none else than Dy.CM of the State. This all was done to show case their extreme concern on one hand and to somehow gain the confidence of Jammuites shattered in total, as re-alliance was not acceptable to even a single person from Jammu but stitched by BJP to get glued to the power corridor for their own interests. He failed to conceive the situation as due to the gravity of the incident, the HM and HRD Ministers of Union Government were directly in touch with CM of the State on the emerging scenario. The situation was not conducive in the NIT that is why the Dy.CM did not dare to visit the NIT on first occasion and later on visited NIT for negotiations that too in company of minister from PDP quota. The complete silence of PDP on the matter makes one to understand that it is the reckoning force behind the unscrupulous elements responsible for vitiating the atmosphere in the NIT. We have to concentrate even on the thought, that whether Mehbooba is not setting its score on the pre election statements of PM Narindra Modi, that it will not tolerate the dynastic rule of ‘Baap Beti” Sarkar and she had to bring the BJP to such a situation that it has to fall flat and beg for re-alliance. The NIT row condemned throughout the country as being a matter of nationalist and anti-nationalist forces, by educational institutions, political parties and social organisations and ‘Tringa Yatra’ of students of 6-7 states to Kashmir, to express their solidarity with non-local students in NIT, flagged of by BJP but halted by police at the border of the state, irked the CM of the State and reportedly unhappy with BJP as blamed of stoking the incident at NIT Srinagar in a covert manner which has disturbed the PDP. The BJP which flagged of the Yatra with a fanfare and even RSS projecting itself as only patriotic force glued its lips to say even a single word on the decision of stopping it at the border. Sensing the trouble from PDP, the BJP talking very loudly on the issue has now succumbed to the PDP by saying that NIT students are ‘mob’ and ‘directionless’. How eager and mindless are our BJP ministers in coming to media, is exposed in the present row as per media report that “In an attempt to mislead the party high command and top RSS functionaries, who have snubbed a senior minister (probably Dy.CM as he is only speaker on this issue till now) for his insensitiveness towards the brutal police Lathi charge on NIT students, the State BJP unit is now projecting the victims as trouble shooters”. The U-turn of BJP local unit is just to please the Kashmir leadership nothing else in order to keep their ministries safe otherwise they have no courage to say bad as a bad. It is just right time for Jammuites, who are nationalistic by character and voice to condemn such useless representation, to analyse that still how much more we have to suffer for the wrong decision of voting after falling in ‘Modi trap’. The people are acting as a watch dog to their actions and they will be rewarded with a ‘throw out’ in next elections which cannot be ruled out in near future owing to the prevailing situation in J and K of political differences as analysed by political think tanks. The NIT row is not a conflict of national and anti-national people but it is the conflict of immature ideological clashes not of all the Indians or Kashmiris, but of some thinkers who are neither interested to shape up their future nor for betterment of the nation but the ghost of politics keeps them vibrant and our political leaders keep such elements surcharged for their vested interests, instead of some viable atmosphere in the institutions as to keep both aspirations of students for better education and politics alive in a healthy way.
