JAMMU: Two BJP legislators on Wednesday left their party ‘red faced’ when they staged walkout of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council demanding deceleration of holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh Birth Anniversary and compensation to the farmers for the land acquired by the government for Ring Road Project in Jammu.
MLA Marh Sukhnandan Choudhary staged protest in the well of the House demanding compensation to the farmers whose land is being acquired by the government for the Ring Road Project.
The MLA said that the government on one hand has stopped the project in Srinagar but the same is under progress in Jammu district without providing sufficient compensation to the farmers.
He said that that the government has acquired large chunk of land of farmers for the Ring Road Project but the compensation given to them is meagre.
Shouting slogans, the BJP member walked out of the Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, another BJP member, MLC Ajatshatru Singh staged walkout of the Upper House demanding declaration of state holiday on the Birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler.
Singh in the last Assembly session also brought resolution in the Legislative Council seeking holiday.
He, however, lashed out at the government for not considering his resolution failing in declaring holiday on account of birth anniversary of the Maharaja in 2017.
Amid protests, the MLC later staged walkout of the House.
