JAMMU: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla on Thursday emphasised that the government should focus on the chaotic areas of the city.
“The National Highway Authority of India had approved two flyovers at Greater Kailash near Sainik Colony and Kunjwani Chowk during the regime of previous government which could not be taken up even after lapsing of three years reasons best known to the present government,” said Bhalla while interacting with people of Bahu Fort area in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
“With the Bikram Chowk Flyover inauguration, BJP’s so-called leaders are claiming that they have solved traffic problem. However, they don’t even have the guts to raise public issues with the government,” Bhalla claimed.
“Areas such as New Plot-Janipur, Talab Tillo-Bohri stretch and BC Road are facing lot of traffic congestion on a routine basis. The tall claims of the government to decongest the roads and reduce traffic chaos will remain unfulfilled until a foolproof plan for three most vulnerable areas of the city comes to existence,” Bhalla said.
“Despite protests and appeals to the present government, no plan has been made for road widening or constructing flyovers. The discrimination against Jammu has been a permanent phenomenon in this State under BJP-PDP rule,” Bhalla maintained.
Bhalla highlighted achievements of Congress Government and said that holistic and inclusive development of the State was the benchmark of governance. He said that comprehensive sewerage scheme for Jammu city, modernisation of bus stand, industrial complexes at Bari Brahmana, Samba and Gangyal, Sidhra Golf Course, development of River Tawi Front, conservation of Mubarak Mandi, improvement of Raghunath Bazaar, Mubarak Mandi Cable Car project, disaster recovery centre, implementation of R-APDRP Part-B in Jammu, distribution of transformers, 4th Tawi Bridge, Satwari-Kunjwani Road Phase-II, construction of Bikram Chowk Flyover, new Legislative Complex, upgradation of Jammu Airport and other developmental works were started due to visionary policies and programmes of Congress whose only aim in politics is public welfare.
Bhalla said that despite huge mandate to BJP in Jammu city, elected representatives have failed to bring any new projects for the city and they are only trying to take credit for the projects already sanctioned and started by the Congress. He said that there was great need for more flyovers to deal with traffic congestion in the area but the present regime was least bothered about the same.
