BJP Govt lying about normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir: Sawhney

STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: Accusing BJP Government for presenting a fake picture of normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir, the former Minister J&K and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney on Saturday said that terror attacks have increased in past few years, and innocent lives are lost every month, while the Center continues to spread its false propaganda. Taking example of recent attack in Rajouri, he said that terrorism has significantly gone up since revocation of statehood, Sawhney said that attack on an Army truck in Poonch, wherein five soldiers got martyred, was another painful reminder that terrorists’ threat is very much real and present in Jammu & Kashmir. In a statement issued on Saturday, Sawhney paid condolences to bereaved families of martyrs of recent attacks across Jammu & Kashmir. He said that it is very sad that rest of India is blindsided into believing that situation is getting better in Jammu & Kashmir, while the reality is completely opposite, he said. He further added that it is a shame that the Centre continues to ignore the security issue. “Modi Government is least concerned with Jammu and Kashmir’s core challenges, but in fact is only trying to create a false image. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that revocation of Article 370 has dealt a blow to terrorism in the region. However, thousands of civilians have lost their lives and there is increase in involvement of local youth in terrorism. Further, despite heavy operations on paper, terrorist activities are increasing. Targeted assassinations of minority community members and migrant labourers are sad reality,” he asserted. The former Minister added that Union Govt must stop brainwashing public and take real steps on an immediate basis to control and curb terrorist activities. “The claims being thrown at public regarding decreasing terrorism is a scam as real picture on ground level is quite depressing. It is high time that stringent action should be taken against terrorism,” Sawhney said.
