BILLAWAR: To express resentment against the unprovoked firing and heavy mortar shelling on the Indian borders by the Pakistan Army, Billawar unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday staged a protest demanding befitting reply to Pakistan.
Led by BJP leader Narayan Dutt Tripathi, scores of BJP workers took out a protest rally which started from Ramkot passing through Nagrota, Phinter and culminated at Billawar. The protestors raised slogans against Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Army for targeting innocent civilians in border areas and burnt the effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister.
Addressing the gathering at Phinter, Narayan Dutt condemned the ceasefire violations by Pakistan and said it is inhumane act on the part of Pakistan to target innocent civilians, more so on the eve of Eid and this deserved to be condemned strongly.
Expressing deep anguish and concern over killings, Tripathi said that the entire State is saddened by killing of innocent civilians and displacement of border dwellers due to continuous shelling. He said that time has come when our forces should retaliate strongly to send a strong message to Pakistan.
Among those who joined the protest include Kuldeep Abrol, BJP Mandal Pradhan, Gopal Krishan, Gurdeep Singh, Anil Kumar, Deepak, Tiger, Makhan Lal, Suresh Upadhyay and Shotu.
