R S PURA: Congress fighting District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir to fight against the “unconstitutional” policies of the BJP through the power of the ballot which has left the people of Jammu and Kashmir unhappy. This was observed by former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla while campaigning in favour of Congress candidate Romesh Motton at Dablehr in RS Pura constituency on Sunday.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include former Minister Garu Ram Choudhary, Sarpanch Capt. Hazara Singh, Sarpanch Fateh Chand, Balbir Singh, Ajeet Singh, Jung Bahadur Manhas, Satpal Mandi, Sham Lal, Sandeep Singh, Ch. Lal Din, Naseer Ahmed, Ramesh Kaith, Ch Noor Hussain, Yash Pal Singh, Thoru Ram beside others. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said BJP had taken a vow to finish the identity of Jammu and Kashmir through “unconstitutional and undemocratic” introduction of new land laws and bifurcation of the erstwhile state into union territories, the Congress leader alleged.
He appealed to the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates in ongoing DDC elections and said, people of Jammu and Kashmir are politically mature enough and this time they will not waste their vote to those who have failed on all fronts.
“Whether it is the rule of Governor, Lieutenant Governor or officers, it can never be pro-people. Only an elected government can provide a pro-people government because the representatives are accountable to the public,” he said.
Stating that the ongoing DDC elections in J&K were the best opportunity to again initiate the process of development at grass- roots level, he said and laid emphasizes over electing the honest and hardworking candidates in these elections to ensure that there was no more exploitation in the name of development in J&K.
He said BJP has no moral right to seek votes in DDC election as it had done incalculable injustice to people of J&K in all fields.
Former Minister maintained that people of J&K have been pushed to wall in the name of development by the BJP, working to implement its political agenda, which is divisive and anti-people, responsible for the crisis and restlessness is J&K and across the country.
He said Congress Party is credited of gifting three tyre Panchayat system to the Nation, aiming to involve people in the process of their own development at grass roots level.
He blamed the BJP Govt for harming the very foundation of the Panchayati Raj system by eroding their authorities to serve their vested interests.
He urged the electorates to rise to the occasion to defeat the political exploitation and opportunism in the ongoing DDC elections, as these elections were bound to change the direction, besides providing opportunities to ensure development of J&K at grass roots level.
