AKHNOOR: Hosts Singh Cricket Club on Wednesday registered a big 48 runs win against KCC Jammu to move into the next round of the ongoing Summer Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, here.
Batting first, after KCC won the toss and opted to field, Singh Club set a challenging target of 217 runs for seven wickets. Sunil Govil and Manik Sharma played fine innings of half centuries. While Sunil made 44-ball 85 runs, Manik contributed 56 runs coming off 36 deliveries. Rahul contributed seven-ball 13 runs.
For KCC, Ashok remained most successful bowler with four wickets, followed by Kamaljit, Tajinder and Sohan, who shared apiece each.
In reply, KCC could not maintain the required run rate and exhausted their quota of overs for 168 runs losing six wickets. Kamaljit batted well making 35-ball 85 runs while Tajinder added valuable 39 runs off just 18 deliveries. Ashok added 13 runs. For Singh Club, Dilawar Singh and Govil took two wickets each. Sunny and Chandan bagged one wicket each.
For his all-round performance, Sunil Govil was declared Man of the Match. Vikas Bali and Rajinder Sharma were umpires in today’s match while Ajay Bhagat and Rajesh Sharma maintained the score.
