Bhim Singh listens to woes of border dwellers

KATHUA: NPP Supremo Prof. Bhim Singh with Panther Party senior leaders on Monday conducted tour of Kathua, Hiranagar, Babia, Sarthtian, Chatwal, Mawa-Rehan to take stock of problems being faced by border dwellers.
The Panther Party team of the leadership moved from Kathua, Hiranagar, Babia, Sarthtian, Chatwal, Mawa-Rehan, interacted with the local residents of International Border (between India and Pakistan) heard their stories as to how they were subjected to Pakistani firing which continued for days together.
Prof. Bhim Singh said that the residents of the border including women and children demonstrated strong courage to resist the enemy attack. They refused the dictates of the district administration to leave their homes and cattle at the mercy of the aggressors and remained inside their houses in spite of shells and firing from Pakistan side. The people in one voice pressed for shelters beyond the firing range.
Prof. Bhim Singh assured that the Panther Party shall fight for their cause of providing 5 Marla of land to each family along international border and LoC. Prof. Bhim Singh told the residents of the border that it was Panthers Party which had fought for providing 5 Marlas of land to each family residing within 10 kms of range from international border or LoC so that every family could build a safer house beyond the firing range. He said that his proposal was signed by Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Mufti Mohd. Sayeed, Prof. Bhim Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, M.Y Taragami besides himself. Prof. Bhim Singh said that this agreement was signed by all political parties before forming a Coalition Government in 2003 under the Chiefministership of Mufti Mohd. Syeed.
Prof. Bhim Singh accused Congress, PDP and the BJP for betraying the residents along international borders and LoC. Prof. Singh said that Panthers Party shall take up this cause before the Supreme Court and assured the people that they shall be provided 5 Marlas of land for the residents at safer places.
Later Prof Bhim, a district party leaders meeting at Kathua an interacted with district leadership including Ajay Singh, District President, Rajesh Kamal and Ram Saran Dogra Vice-Presidents, Balbir Singh alias Happy District President Young Panthers, Legal Aid Secretary, Appu Singh Advocate, Sr. Member Working Committee and former District President Jagdev Khajuria.
General Secretary Anita Thakur and State President Young Panthers and former Minister Yashpal Kundal, State Secretary Rajinder Singh Manju and Arun Khajuria Block President Samba were also present in the meeting.
