Bhim hails CJI’s veto for selecting Judges by Union Govt

JAMMU: Prof Bhim Singh, a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of State Legal Aid Committee besides being Chief Patron of National Panthers Party congratulated Justice Tirath Singh, Chief Justice of India for demonstrating courage and judicial commitment to keep the government off any interference into the appointment of Judges by the Supreme Court collegium.
While addressing members of the State Legal Aid Committee (advocates) at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, Bhim said that Chief Justice Tirath Singh has followed Justice P.N Bhagwati, a former Chief Justice of India to ensure that executive does not interfere into the functioning of the judiciary under any circumstances and situations.
Bhim said that Justice Tirath Singh Thakur has conveyed this message to the members of the judiciary and the Bar that the Supreme Court cannot twist its interpretation so far as jurisprudence and rule of law is concerned. He demanded that the draft Memorandum of Procedure (MoP) finalised by the Modi Government which was presented by Sushma Swaraj to the Chief Justice of India should be made public so that the entire lawyers’ community is provided this information as to how Modi Government wants to interfere with the working of the Apex Court, the Supreme Court of India.
Bhim emphasised that no one individual or a political party shall be allowed to interfere with the domain of the Constitution of India which forms the routes of Indian democracy even after its 66 years of history.
