Bharat Scouts and Guides celebrates Flag Day

JAMMU: J and K Bharat Scouts and Guides Jammu on Friday celebrated Flag Day at State Headquarters situated in Gandhi Nagar.
Around 300 scouts and guides and scouters/guiders and heads of institutions from more than 40 schools of Jammu District participated in the programme.
Scouts and Guides and Scouters/Guiders all over the State propagated the mission of Flag Day among friends, neighbours, officials, businessmen and other fellow citizens and presented Scouts/Guides Flag Day stickers as a token of acclaiming them as strong supporters of this noble movement.
Besides Flag Day Ceremony, all faith prayer was also held. Some schools also presented cultural items and some scouts and guides also threw light on the importance of the Day.
On the occasion, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla was the Chief Guest whereas President of J and K Bharat Scouts and Guides and former minister, R.S Chib presided over the function. Senior Vice President, Navin Agarwal, Vice-President G.A Qureshi and senior lady Vice-President, Roma Wani were the Guests of Honour.
The Chief Guest said that our culture, our civilisation and our faith demand to adhere to the reservoir of tried and tested values, norms, observances and principles that have taken the form of life-styles, manners, etiquettes, and traditions.
The President also assured all the participants that he would do his best as a President of this noble-movement, to see that the youth get education in values in order to lead a better life and to give their constructive services to the humanity to make the world better.
Dr. Sri Ram Memorial Awards were presented to the Best Scout Masters and Best Guide Captains, and Medals of merit, Thanks Badges were also given away to the well-wishers and luminaries for their dedicated and sincere contributions. The HWB award earned by Gurmeet Singh was also presented to him by the Chief Guest and President.
Medals of Merit were presented to Sanjay Kumar, Thanks badges were presented to Vijay Puri, Prof. Harbans Singh, Rosomma, Renu Sharma, T.R Romesh, Dr Baljit Singh, G. Victor and Prof. Ramanuja Devanathan and Best Guide Captain/Scout/ Master Medal presented to Manjit Kour, Rameeza Sajad, Azad Ahmad Shah and Jiwan Singh.
State Commissioner (S), J and K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, I.D Soni highlighted the importance of Flag Day and the steps being taken to popularise the activities and programmes of this noble movement.
Others present included Raj Bharti, Rameshwar Mengi, Ritish Kapoor, Kanwarjit Singh, Prof. Harbans Singh, Hardev Singh, S.K Jain, Arun Mehra, Raj Kumar Khazanchi, Chander Mohan Nharma, S.C Gupta, Jagmohan Gupta, Kiran Watal, Vijay Basur, Ashwani Katoch, Sureshta Khajuria, Sarla, Usha Tickoo, Usha Chunni, R.P Kotwal, Harcharan Singh, Manjit Kour and S.S Slathia.
