Bharat Milap celebrations illuminated Jammu Deepawali Mahotsav-2023

JAMMU: Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary, Tourism Department, Jammu & Kashmir and Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism Jammu, the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, joined hands with Shri Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj, Dewan Mandir Jammu, Apsara Road Traders Association, Jammu, Link Road Traders Association, Jammu, and Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust to create an extraordinary event celebrating the reunion of Lord Ram with his beloved brother Bharat, a centerpiece of the Jammu Deepawali Mahotsav-2023.
This grand Bharat Milap unfolded over two days, from November 7 and 8, 2023, in the historical locales of Purani Mandi Chowk and Apsara Road, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The event, characterized by its deep fervor and dedication, was a tribute to the triumphant return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after a 14-year exile and the heart warming reunion with his cherished brother Bharat.
The journey commenced at Deewan Mandir, winding its way through the picturesque Moti Bazaar, passing the iconic Chowk Chabutra, navigating Link Road Chowk, and culminating at the heart of Purani Mandi Chowk, our cherished Milap Point on day 1.
On day 2, the grand Laxmi Narayan Mandir Main Gate will set the stage, visiting the sacred Doodhadari Mandir before culminating at the vibrant Gole Market, our second Milap Point.
In her address, Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, Sunaina Sharma Mehta described this event as a cultural masterpiece that not only venerates our heritage but also embodies unity and brotherhood.
She expressed her profound honor to be part of an event capturing the spirit of Lord Ram and his love for his brother, Bharat.
At the occasion, several prominent individuals were in attendance, including Yudhvir Sethi, Vice President of the BJP in Jammu & Kashmir, Anil Masoom, a corporator, Adv. Purnima Sharma, who served as the Deputy Mayor in the past.
Also present were Rajinder Gupta, the President of the Link Road Association, Anil Kohli, President of the Apsara Road Traders Association, and Amit Jandyal, the Convener of the Apsara Road Traders Association, Sanjay Gupta, President of Raghunath Bazar, Anoop Mittal, President of Kanak Mandi, Rajesh Gupta, President of Lower Hari Market, and Pankaj Handa, the cashier, among many other distinguished guests.
Apart from this, Directorate of Tourism Jammu, under the leadership of Sunaina Sharma Mehta hosted a pre-event dinner for the Igniter startup fest.
It embodies the department’s unwavering commitment to promote Jammu as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism destination.
The guests warmly welcomed this gesture, and in a touching exchange, Ms. Sunaina Mehta presented souvenirs containing the bounties of Jammu region, adorned with prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tags.
This thoughtful gesture promotes the rich local art, craft, and heritage of the region.
Further Umesh Shan, Deputy Director, Tourism Jammu and Sugandhi Banotra ,Assistant Director, Tourism ,Jammu also graced the occasion and were nodal officer for the said events.
