JAMMU: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla on Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Gangyal, Shanker Colony, Ekta Vihar, Bandurakh, Sainik Colony, Trikuta Nagar, Belicharna, Barjala, Raipur Satwari, Chandmari and other flood affected areas and assessed the damages caused due to flash floods and heavy rains.
In view of continuous rising of River Tawi water, Bhalla directed the Sub Division Magistrate and Tehsildar to accommodate flood hit families of Barjala, Raipur Satwari, Chandmari, Belicharna to safer place like at government schools, Anganwari centres, multipurpose community hall, etc to ensure their safety. He also directed them to provide free ration, meals and medicare services to the flood affected families.
Bhalla appealed to the people to take precautions and avoid their movement near River Tawi to avoid any untoward incident due to flash flood and heavy rainfall.
He also directed the revenue department to assess the losses on this account and submit report to the government immediately for providing relief to the flood hit families and temporary restoration of public infrastructure.
Bhalla enquired about the prevailing situation at different locations and assured all required help by the government. On-the-spot directions were issued to the concerned departments to do the needful at the earliest for the convenience of the flood and heavy rain affected families.
