JAMMU: Minister for Housing, Culture, Horticulture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla on Saturday laid foundation stone of Rs 5 crore Community Health Centre (CHC) building at Trikuta Nagar being.
Director Health Services Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB) Ram Paul Sharma besides other senior officers of PHE, PDD, R&B, Health and UEED accompanied the Minister.
Addressing a large gathering of locals after laying foundation stone of CHC, the minister informed that the proposed CHC would have facilities like 10-bedded ward, Labour Room, Laboratory, Dental Ward, Emergency Ward, X-ray room, family welfare room, dressing room, dispensary, ramp, kitchen, toilet block and terrace .
Bhalla said that government has accorded focused attention on health sector and during the past five and half years, a substantial improvement in the overall scenario has been registered.
Appreciating the performance of the employees of the health department, Bhalla said that everyone has understood their role and put in their best efforts in providing best possible Medicare facilities to the ailing persons.
Congratulating the people of this urban pocket of Jammu city for getting the new CHC building in the locality, the minister said that the hospital will be equipped with all essential and requisite facilities for different specialties and a 10-bed ward.
The government has already sanctioned posts of doctors and para-medics for this newly established CHC which will be completed within a period of one year by the Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB), he informed.
Bhalla said that the hospital will have 24 hour service with all latest diagnostic and treatment facilities.
The minister also asked Director Health to provide a fully air-conditioned ambulance to CHC for shifting of the patients to the referral hospitals .
The minister further informed that work on Rs. 72.45 crore 100-bedded Rajiv Gandhi Hospital at Gangyal is under progress. He said the hospital was being constructed under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scheme of the central government. He asked the Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board to complete the hospital within stipulated time frame. He informed that the 100-beded hospital would house an OPD block, IPD block, operation theatres (OTs), ICU, NICU among other treatment and diagnostic facilities.
The minister said in the last five and half years the State witnessed immense growth and development in all the sectors with focus on health, education and infrastructural improvement.
Later, Bhalla also visited W. No. 56 Gangyal and inaugurated Multipurpose Community hall, constructed by JKHB at an estimated cost of Rs. 54 lakh.
