JAMMU: Minister for Housing and Congress candidate Raman Bhalla has intensified the poll campaign in the Gandhi Nagar Constituency and apprised the people about the policies and programmes of the party.
“The party has multi-pronged planning and strategy to deal with the issues of unemployment, poverty and uplift of weaker sections of the society. The programmes and policies of the Congress party are people friendly and millions of poor people have availed benefits of these schemes”, Bhalla added.
Bhalla has said that it was his endeavour to develop the Gandhi Nagar on modern lines and a model constituency in the State. For cherishing this dream, Minister has sought people’s support for another stint.
Minister said this while addressing series of election rallies in Nanak Nagar, Belicharana, Bhatindi, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Rohi Morh, Chatha, Kunjwani, Shastri Nagar and Jawahar Nagar areas of the Gandhi Nagar constituency.
He cautioned the people against the propaganda unleashed by the disruptive forces against the Congress, adding that these unscrupulous forces appear during election and try to spread false rumors and incite the sentiments of innocent people in the name of religion, caste, creed and colour.
Referring to the development of Gandhi Nagar Constituency, the minister asked the people to compare his tenures as representative of the constituency with previous 50 years and feel the difference themselves on ground.
Electrification of number of areas in the constituency was done by getting a number of electric poles and transformers installed and upgraded, minister said, adding that around 15 schools have been upgraded to high and higher secondary level, which is catering to the needs of thousands of students at their doorsteps and all this happened due to the positive approach, sincerity and dedication of the Congress party towards the people.
Bhalla added that construction of fly over at Bikram Chowk, six lanning of Satwari to Kunjwani road, modern facilities at cremation grounds, upgradation of schools, opening of new playing fields and Public Health Centres (PHCs) and installation of over two dozen tube-wells are some of the works done during his tenure.
He added that people shall have to exercise their franchise more effectively and decisively in the upcoming Assembly elections to shape a new and bright future for the State.
