UDHAMPUR: State’s top wrestler Benia Min of J and K Police defeated known wrestler of Haryana, Sunil Chotiwale of Virender Arya Akhara in the main bout to lift the 28th Majalta Kesari Dangal title held at Government Girls Middle School Majalta in district Udhampur.
Title winner, Benia was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 31,000 by Chief Guest, Joint Secretary of J and K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma, who happens to be President of the J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association. Runners-up Sunil got Rs 20,000 as prize money.
In all, 39 bouts took place in this day-long Dangal. The second bout was won by Bhupinder of Ajnala in Punjab beating Kapil of Uttar Pradesh to be presented with Rs 15,000 as prize money. Runner-up, Kapil got Rs 10,000. Third bout was won by Ishaq (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu who defeated Gopi of Ajnala while Vikas of Delhi outplayed Nisar of Doda of J and K Police in the fourth main bout.
Wrestler Amir Khan was declared as best wrestler of the Dangal. He was awarded with a special cash prize by the Chief Guest.
Dangal was organised by Majalta Dangal Committee in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Organising Committee comprising of Numberdar Tara Mani, Lochan Singh and Prem Nath.
Joint Secretary J and K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma was Chief Guest, who distributed cash prizes among the wrestlers. The SHO Majalta, Ashiq Hussain Bhukari and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) were Guests of Honour.
Members and technical officials who helped in the conduct of Dangal included Tara Mani (President), Madan Lal (Vice President), Kishori Lal (Cashier), Lochan Singh, Prem Nath, Gourav Singh, Omkar Singh, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Om Parkash Verma, Deepak Wazir, Mohd. Fareed, Vijay Singh (Biju), Kaka and Murli Dhar (Munna).

Bout played between Talab of Mallerkotla and Altaf of Delhi ended in a draw.
