JAMMU: The Amateur Belt Wrestling Federation (India) held its first General Body meeting under the leadership of Secretary General, Tarsem Sharma and attended besides others by representatives from states of Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, J and K, Rajasthan, Assam, Puduchary and Maharastra, here on Sunday.
The meeting discussed the modalities to promote the game in India in a big way in view of inclusion of the event in the Asian Indoor Games to be held in Turmankistan in September this year.
Joint Secretary of the Indian Olympic Association (IOC) and President of J and K Handball Association, S.M Bali was special invitee, who chaired the inaugural session of the meeting. Secretary General, Asian Belt Wrestling Federation, Shammi Rana of South Korea was also present.
Speaking to the delegates from the Indian states, Secretary, Asian Belt Wrestling Federation asked S.M Bali to use his good office in the IOC to promote the game in all parts of the country in a big way.
In turn, the Joint Secretary IOC, Bali assured the Asian and Indian bodies of the Belt Wrestling that he will try his level best to get this sport (Belt Wrestling) included in IOC.
