JAMMU: Expressing concern on continuous neglect of the Batwal community, Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association on Thursday sought representation at various government forums to ensure welfare of this section of society. Claiming that Batwal community members have no effective say in the State due to non-representation, the Association members alleged that there was no action on various demands of the community, highlighted through a series of memorandums submitted to the State Government.
Association members, as such, urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to have the said memorandum traced out and initiate action in the matter so as to uplift their people socially and economically. The Association in its meeting also demanded implementation of recommendations suggested after conducting ethnographic study to assess the socio, economic and cultural life of Batwals in the J&K by the Central Government in 1994.
