JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association will celebrate 118th birthday of Sri Guru Gyagi Ji on 3rd February at village Shahzadpur Kothi here.
This was informed by General Secretary of the Association, R.L Kaith in a meeting held here on Monday.
In this regard, Batwal Association nominated 21-member Guru Gyagi Birthday Celebration Committee comprising Captain Kamal Chand Motan, Captain Raja Ram Kaith, Captain Ram Lal Sargotra, Captain Krishan Lal Tugga, Subedar Major Gunni Ram Kaith, Havaldar Des Raj Kaith, Havaldar Uttam Chand Sandhu, Naib Sarpanch Ram Lal Lakhotra, Bua Ditta Kaith, Rashpal Chand Bassa, Chaman Lal Sandhu, Rakesh Sandhu, Chaman Lal Kaith, Ram Lal Kaith, Subash Chander Kaith, Saran Dass Kaith, Rashpal Chand Motan, Ashok Kumar Motan, ChuniLal Kaith, Girdhari Lal and Mida Ram.
The association urged the State Government to honour Sri Guru GyagiJi by declaring his birthday as ‘public holiday’ in Jammu District through a notification.
Besides, the association hailed the decision of the Union Government to confer ‘Bharat Ratna’ (the highest civilian award) to Madan Mohan Malviya, a freedom fighter and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a charismatic practitioner of consensual politics who found acceptability across the political spectrum. It also urged the government to honour Sardar Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.
